DVLS Pro Bono Attorneys Assist Severely ill Immigrant Mother With Custody

When Latifah gave birth to her child she suffered complications which required a heart transplant and lengthy hospitalization. While she was in the hospital, her husband sent the baby back to Africa with his parents. Two DVLS volunteer attorneys Helped Latifah's parents obtain guardianship of Latifah so they could file for custody on her behalf to keep the baby in the U.S. with her mother.
