Community Legal Aid Society, Inc. (CLASI) is a private, non-profit law firm dedicated to equal justice for all. We provide civil legal services to members of our community who have low incomes, who have disabilities or who are age 60 and over. Our services assist clients in becoming self-sufficient and meeting basic needs with dignity.
The original "Legal Aid Society" was established in Delaware in 1946 by members of the Delaware State Bar Association who saw the need for legal services for people who could not afford to hire a lawyer. Since that time, legal assistance programs for people with disabilities and individuals age 60 and over have been added by the organization. Most recently CLASI added the Fair Housing Program to enforce fair housing rights for all people regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, and familial status.
CLASI provides free civil (non-criminal) legal services to eligible Delawareans. A true statewide organization, CLASI maintains offices in New Castle, Kent and Sussex Counties. Our attorneys and paralegals work in close collaboration with other non-profit agencies, state and local governments and the community to help our clients improve their lives in a meaningful and lasting way.
CLASI seeks to provide equal access to justice for Delawareans regardless of their ability to pay or despite the physical- or age-related difficulties they may face. A dedicated and caring staff, faced with many challenges, strives every day to provide quality legal services to all clients. | | | | | | | | | |
