CLASI’s Statement on the Events of January 6, 2021

CLASI watched in horror at the events that took place in Washington, D.C. on January 6 that were a direct threat to democracy and institutions of justice.  Make no mistake this was not an isolated event, nor a spontaneous one, nor harmless.  It is a part of a frightening movement to devalue the lives of Black people and disenfranchise people of color.  The march in Charlottesville, the armed and violent response to Black Lives Matter protests, and now the attempted coup at the nation’s capitol building, are connected.  CLASI remains committed to advocating for a more just America, an America where all vulnerable people are valued.  CLASI will continue to support marginalized people in Delaware when they are facing the most frightening experiences of their lives- eviction, domestic violence, benefit termination, removal from the country.

We will always be here for you.
