How to Request Help

To Request Help: Please contact the CLASI office in your county (New Castle, Kent, or Sussex) listed below. You may request help by phone or in person.

CLASI handles cases in a limited number of legal areas. We do not handle criminal or personal injury cases. To learn more about the types of services we provide and eligibility requirements, please visit our Legal Services page.

Before You Contact Us: If possible, please gather any notices, court papers, or other documents relating to your legal issue. It is very helpful if you can share dates and other information from these documents with our clerical team.

Intake Process: When you contact us, a CLASI clerical team member will ask you for basic background information. This is required by our funding sources before we can serve you.

If you are eligible for services, and you have a legal problem that we handle, your information will be given to a member of our legal staff who will review it and contact you.

Please Note: We are a nonprofit organization and the cases we can handle are determined by our grant funding and program priorities. Because we have limited funds and staffing, we unfortunately cannot take every case that is presented to us. If we cannot provide you with direct help, we will do our best to connect you with other agencies or individuals who may be able to assist you.

Delaware Legal Help Link

If CLASI is not able to assist you with your legal issue, there may be another organization that can help. The Delaware Legal Help Link website is a free service designed to help people with civil legal problems in Delaware find the best help for their situation.

It provides information about services provided by a range of Delaware organizations, including CLASI and our civil legal aid partners at Delaware Volunteer Legal Services (DVLS) and Legal Services Corporation of Delaware (LSCD), along with other organizations providing free and low-cost legal advice, representation, or other services.

The Delaware Legal Help Link also has guides and information about a variety of legal topics, including legal self-help materials.

Lawyer Referral Service

If you find that you are not eligible for free legal services, you can still obtain a referral to a private licensed Delaware lawyer through the Delaware State Bar Association’s Online Lawyer Referral Service.
