This Veterans Day, Community Legal Aid Society, Inc. (“CLASI”) is pleased to announce our new partnership with the Veterans Multi-Service Center (“VMC”) as of November 1, 2022. Founded by veterans of the Vietnam War in 1980, VMC assists veterans in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and southern New Jersey, providing services and programming to over 6,500 veterans and their families each year.
Through our partnership with VMC, we will provide free legal advice and representation to veterans across Delaware who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. CLASI will train VMC staff to spot legal issues and refer veterans who need help with their housing, healthcare, or income supports. We will be assisting with:
- Housing issues, including evictions and conditions problems
- Medicaid and Medicare benefits
- SSI/SSDI disability benefit terminations, reductions, or overpayments
- LIHEAP home energy assistance benefits
- SNAP (food stamp) benefits
CLASI’s partners at Legal Services Corporation of Delaware (“LSCD”) will also be providing services to veterans through this new initiative. We look forward to working together to help Delaware veterans and their families maintain their housing and achieve economic stability.
